Storyboards Reveal New Details from the Unmade Red Dwarf Movie

A rare treasure surfaced last week on the English fan site Stasis Leak — user reddwarfvault shared four full storyboard folders from the never-produced Red Dwarf movie. Until now, only a few small glimpses of the film’s content had been released officially, such as brief previews on the show’s official website. Some early production materials, like storyboards and costume designs, have also occasionally appeared.

This latest post, however, is by far the most extensive look at the scrapped film to date, featuring complete storyboard sequences for four scenes.

Interestingly, several jokes and concepts from the abandoned film later made their way into the series itself. One fan on the Ganymede & Titan forums pointed out a striking similarity between the movie’s opening storyboard and the intro to the episode The Beginning.
