Trpaslicon celebrated its 22nd anniversary this year, and in the spirit of the Confidence and Paranoia episode, we walked the fine line between absolute elation and a mild existential crisis all weekend – but in exactly the right Dwarf style!
Great guests and legendary voices
This year we welcomed dubbing legends of the Czech version of Red Dwarf – Martin Sobotka (Lister), Kamil Halbich (Rimmer), Zdeněk Dušek (Kryten), director Janos Vaculík and dubber Zuzana Skalicka (Loretta). Meeting them was one of the highlights of the con and brought a lot of great stories and improvised dubbing performances!
Stats that would make even Holly happy
There were approximately 480 attendees at Trpaslicon this year, including: 👾 367 visitors 🛠 51 organizers 🎙 58 guests (speakers, dubbers, special guests) 👶 And several future child-sized fans!
A programme full of British humour, sci-fi and nostalgia
This year Trpaslicon offered a rich programme, with Red Dwarf, Britcom, sci-fi & fantasy, Doctor Who, as well as workshops, competitions and themed games. In the sci-fi line, we commemorated 10 years since Terry Pratchett’s passing, remembered his legacy and re-immersed ourselves in his fantastic world.
Mask competition and VIP evening with dubbers
Saturday night traditionally culminated in a mask competition, featuring incredibly creative costumes inspired by Red Dwarf, Discworld and other iconic figures of British culture. This was followed by a meet and greet with the voice actors, who once again proved that their voices simply belong with the Red Dwarf crew.
Buffet at Pirate Luigi’s: How was your Vindaloo?
No Trpaslicon would be complete without the legendary Buffet at Pirate Luigi’s, where visitors could enjoy Gazpacho, Chicken Vindaloo and other space delicacies. If Vindaloo has “toasted your palate a bit”, consider it part of the experience! 😄
Atmosphere full of Confidence and Paranoia
This year, we went all out with the themed decorations, which, in the spirit of the Confidence and Paranoia episode, gave the con just the right vibe – so everyone could feel either totally awesome or totally depressed. But the main thing is that we had a great time together!
